How to prepare for a wildlife inspection

Before an inspection, make a note of when you first noticed the activity and where you hear or see it most often. Timing and location are useful clues when identifying the animal involved.

If it is safe to do so, take a photo of visible damage, droppings, tracks, or an opening near the roofline. Do not approach, corner, or handle wildlife.

Make sure the inspector can access the attic, crawlspace, garage, or other areas where activity has been reported. Clearing a path saves time and helps the inspection stay focused.

The goal is to understand both the immediate problem and the conditions that allowed it to begin. A good inspection should end with clear next steps for removal, exclusion, and prevention.
